Welcome to What's In Your Lunch Box

WHAT'S IN YOUR LUNCH BOX?, INC. (WIYLBOX) was founded in 2006 and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity, based in Los Angeles, California. The specific purposes for which WIYLBOX was formed are based on very passionate desires to affect positive changes on the futures of children and their wellness, including those children impacted by the autism epidemic.

MISSION - To improve health and wellness for 'all' children, particularly those children and their families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorders.

We strongly believe that as we address the specific needs of the Autism community, 'all' children and their families will be served.

To achieve its mission, WIYLBOX developed intensive, comprehensive and interdisciplinary education and training programs focused on Diet, Nutrition, Adapted Physical Activity and Therapeutic Exercise, Social Networking and Advocacy. The programs are offered at 'no-cost' to families suffering from the economic down-turn.

OVERVIEW - Autism has been declared a public health crisis by the Center for Disease Control.  Today, 1 in every 98 individuals and 1 in every 80 boys have been diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined.  Autism occurs in all racial, ethnic, and social groups.

AUTISM FACTS

  • Autism is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the United States.
  • Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases.
  • There is no medical detection or cure for autism.
  • Annual costs for care of a child with ASDs is upward of $72,000 annually (direct and indirect costs).
  • There is no protocol with insurance companies for care of children and their families impacted by ASD.
